Theme 1

PD4AI (Professional Development for Artificial Intelligence) 

PD4AI is necessary to strengthen the education workforce's capacity to use AI wisely and responsibly.  

Foci of Theme 1

  • To investigate the design and implementation of PD that strengthens AI competencies among the education workforce*; 

  • To examine AI competency/literacy frameworks for the education workforce, policy implementation, institutional strategies, or professional learning experiences about AI across different educational settings; 

  • To explore how PD can better equip the education workforce with AI capacity across diverse educational systems and communities to respond to the rapidly evolving AI landscape.  

Key Questions of Theme 1

  • How can PD design support AI learning needs in diverse contexts? 

  • How can PD empower the education workforce’s engagement with AI? 

  • How can schools/institutions support the professional learning of the education workforce to use AI wisely and responsibly? 

Foci of Theme 2

  • To explore human–AI collaboration for more inclusive, equitable, and scalable PD; 

  • To investigate how AI supports PD through personalised learning pathways, adaptive feedback, AI-mediated mentoring, peer learning communities, and curriculum co-design support. 

Key Questions of Theme 2

  • How can AI empower the education workforce to personalise their professional learning? 

  • How can AI scale quality professional development across diverse contexts? 

  • How can schools/institutions/leaders adopt AI for enhancing equitable PD?

Theme 2

AI4PD (Artificial Intelligence for Professional Development) 

AI4PD is focused on how the education workforce and AI can work together to design and implement more inclusive and equitable PD.

*Education workforce refers to teachers, school leaders, teacher educators, policymakers, and other education professionals in K–12 and higher education.

Submission Guidelines

Presentation Format

  1. Paper presentation 

  2. Poster presentation

Language

Length

1. Paper presentation - extended abstract of 400 words (full paper is NOT needed); 
2. Poster presentation - abstract of 200 words. 

  • The abstract should NOT contain tables, figures, or appendices. 

  • References are encouraged where relevant and should be limited to five. References will not be included in the word count. 

  • Outstanding contributions will be recognised with Best Poster Presentation Awards and Best Abstract Presentation Awards.

  • Selected high-quality abstracts may be invited for publication in an edited book and/or a special issue of a journal. 

How to Submit

Step 1

Prepare your abstract

Prepare your abstract according to the submission guidelines and ensure that it aligns with one of the conference themes.

Step 2

Submit online

Complete the online submission form by the Submission Deadline

(14 Sep 2026). 

Step 3

Review

All submissions will undergo peer review by the Conference Scientific Committee based on the following criteria: 

  • Relevance to the conference themes; 

  • Originality and scholarly significance

Step 4

Notification

  • Authors will be notified of the acceptance status by 12 Oct 2026.

  • Accepted presenting authors must register by 2 Nov 2026 (earlier than the regular registration deadline of 10 Nov 2026). 

Submission Policy

  • Abstracts must be submitted through the official online submission link. 

  • At least one author of each accepted submission should register for the conference and present the work. Accepted submissions without a registered presenter may be removed from the programme. 

  • Individuals may submit a maximum of one abstract as the presenting or first author for the presentation. There is no limit on participation as a co-author. 

  • The author who submitted the abstract will receive all correspondence and is responsible for communicating updates to co-authors. 

  • Abstracts will be published in their camera-ready form. Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of all information, including author names, affiliations, grammar, and content. 

  • Requests to withdraw a submission should be sent to the Conference Secretariat (liet2026@eduhk.hk) before the programme is finalised.

  • By submitting an abstract, authors consent to its publication in conference materials, including the conference website, programme booklet, and other official publications. ​

  • By submitting an abstract, authors confirm that they hold the necessary rights to all submitted materials and that the submission does not infringe upon any third-party intellectual property rights. 

  • By submitting an abstract, authors grant LIET2026 a royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive license to use, reproduce, publish, translate, distribute, and display their abstract and presentation content.​
